WZRD Party, June 4th, 2021

It was due for a blow-out.  Rescheduled from the month of July, the WZRD team and its counterparts were expectant to celebrate some group birthdays and finished films. With pandemic restrictions lifting in Utah, the videos started at 9:00 PM sharp to an approximate audience of 150. We got to hear from Dylan, Phil,  and Galeon, about WZRD and what they do. I chose to climb the drywall on the side of the building for a better view and noticed the audience extended well past the front stoop and facilities.

That's when the 4K video content became real life and the artists began performing their song from Jack's video on the balcony of the stage. Young Habibi Solo fans came out in droves to support their upincoming peer. The skate ramp turned into an extension of the dance floor as the young crowd smashed the haus. An open bar, that was serviced at times by the filmmakers, managed to churn out a consistent stream of cocktails, sparkling wine, and beer that kept the group fueled. With no ice remaining at around 11:00 PM, the service crew quickly transitioned to shots or Grey Goose, Gin, but mostly, tequila.

Even though Serge Du Pre spun the Dj stand well into the AM, the party died down as non-dancers began congregating outside, spread over two large parking lots. My wallet and phone ended up in a neighboring warehouse unit owned and operated as a karate dojo, if that's any indicator of the level of lit this party was. I later learned the term is "Yardsale'd".

The next day...

The humans kept their mojo and went climbing in Big Cottonwood Canyon. However, since all dogs aren't welcome in BCC, another party went to Parley's River Trail for some hiking, wading, and shooting the tube. It was a scorcher in the valley this weekend and crucial to get elevation and hydration.

As the hangover settled, and we relaxed into the Saturday afternoon, Will, who'd almost made it to the party the night before, got the humans out for a celebratory drink outside at Campfire Bar & Grill. Sipping on german beer, sours, seltzers, we prost to Casey moving into the neighborhood! Phil returned my effects and goodbyes were said as the Good Humans parted ways once more - some to Lake Effect, others to dreamland.

Coming up, we can all take a collective sigh of relief in public spaces now that there aren't mask requirements. If you're around on June 11th, we'll be celebrating the birthday of Dylan Wineland while another group heads down to southern Utah. Talks of a 4th of July trip are in the works.

Take the time with us and celebrate the experience.

Much Love!

Mitch
